Open House at 3901 Shaw
Credit was given to the community members who worked for several decades to improve this area as part of the 39th Street Development Corporation and Shaw Housing Corporation. Residents and developers toured the property and shared their visions for the future of the building on the poster boards shown below.
Survey Results: 139 Residents shared their thoughts about the 3901 Shaw property through an online survey with the following results:
71.64% would prefer to the building preserved and renovated
The best re-use of the building would be: commercial business 75.74%, mixed use (i.e. artist studio & home) 12.5%, other use 8.09%, residential 3.68%.
If the building were torn down, it should be replaced by: commercial 51.88%, mixed use (residential, office, retail, fitness) 41.35%, residential – single family 3.01%, residential – multi family rental 2.26%, residential – town house 0.75%, residential – multi family condominium 0.75%.
Specific business ideas shared include: a brew pub, movie / performance theater, restaurant / cafe with outdoor seating, retail shop / boutique, gym, and event space.
