Beautification Project - painting branded crosswalks

IMGP8068     Volunteers from the Tower Grove and surrounding neighborhoods are demonstrating that pedestrians matter, by painting the crosswalks.  The initiative serves as a community beautification project. IMGP8076 The repeating fleur-de-lis pattern is symbolic of St. Louis.  The neighborhood’s name or logo is included in the crosswalk design, as a branding effort for the community.  According to survey results, the painted crosswalks impact residents’ sense of pride in the community, visibility of the pedestrian realm is increased, and the pedestrian’s sense of safety is increased. IMGP8160 Survey respondents feel there should be more painted crosswalks in the community and are showing up to get the job done.  If this is a project you would like to support, we have several paint dates remaining. 6:30 to 9:30 pm, on Tuesday, 8/26/14 and Wednesday, 8/27/14, we will paint the crosswalk at Morgan Ford and Arsenal. The following week, Tuesday, 9/2/14 and Wednesday, 9/3/14, we will paint Tower Grove and Magnolia.  You can register to help here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/N3XYK9V Morganford-Wyoming-Crossing-WebThis project is funded by a HUD Community Development Block Grant, via the St. Louis Community Development Administration.
