Landlord & Rehabber Training on Missouri Landlord / Tenant Law
We had record attendance and great discussion for the Jan. 28, Landlord & Rehabber Training on Missouri Landlord Tenant Law, led by Marissa Cohen of the Equal Housing Opportunity Council and Wes Kozeny of Kozeny McCubbin Law Office. Marissa shared the law as pertains to the tenant and Wes shared the law as pertains to the landlord. The event was held at Harris Stowe University and we appreciate their providing the venue and support of the program.
The presentation focused on rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants, as well as evictions, security deposits, and efforts in STL to reduce vacant, abandoned, and blighted housing. There were many questions pertaining to the Housing Choice Voucher program. As a follow up, we want to share that the St. Louis Housing Authority provides a Landlord Briefing, each month on the 1st Tuesday at Housing Authority’s corporate office located at 3520 Page Blvd at 11:00 a.m. The purpose of the briefing is to provide landlords with a detailed outline of the Housing Choice Voucher / Section 8 program as it relates to landlords as housing providers. The briefing lasts approximately 2 hours. Contact Mr. Darrell Miller at (314) 286-4378 for more information on the Voucher/Section 8 Landlord Briefing.
The 2020 Landlord Training is a Northside-Southside Collaboration between North Newstead Association, The Vacancy Collaborative, and Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC. This FREE training is open to all landlords, property managers, rehabbers, developers, and interested parties. The facilities are ADA compliant. If you need special accommodations for a future training, please contact dana@towergrovecdc.org
The goal of the Landlord & Rehabber Training Program is to stabilize our communities by building an eco-system of educated landlords, rehabbers, and small developers empowered to reduce vacancy and nuisance. The program will enlist professionals from real estate, property management, law, accounting, preservation, & finance industries to share their knowledge on acquiring and developing real estate and implementing property management best practices.
This activity is funded by a HUD Community Development Block Grant via the St. Louis Community Development Administration and coordinated by Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC, North Newstead Association, and The Vacancy Collaborative.
