Community Service Program to benefit City Residents and Neighborhoods
A fantastic program is kicking off in Tower Grove South this Saturday, June 13th! Our 15th ward Nuisance Officer, Dave Krapf, is leading a program for City Residents who have received fines for non-violent offense ( traffic tickets). This program provides a community service alternative to paying fines, which can be a financial burden to many residents. Officer Krapf will be leading and working beside small teams of men and women to better our neighborhoods by “sweeping” allies and streets of trash and debris, clearing and tidying vacant buildings and lots, and supporting residents in need by trimming and pruning their yards. Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC is a proud partner of this initiative and will continue to support the program by recruiting sponsors and working with the Neighborhood Associations, block captains, and Neighborhood Improvement Specialists to identify areas in need.
We would like to thank our first official sponsor, Home Depot, for the donation of yard tools and trash cans which were vital for the program to get underway. We are still looking for tax- deductible donations of gas mowers, gas-powered leaf blowers, gas powered trimmers, and snow shovels. Please, contact Kristan Nickels if you can help: 314-865-5530 ext.106.
If you would like to join in and help with the effort for a few hours or just stop by to say “Hi”, the program will get underway at Saturday at 9am, and will meet in the Shop n’ Save parking lot in Gravois Plaza. The clean-up will be taking place in the “Wedge” area of Tower Grove South along Gravois, Bamberger Ave., and Hydraulic Ave.
