TGNCDC All-In for Change Fundraiser -Recap
On May 9th Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC hosted our first fundraising event, All-In for Change. Our goal was to create an event that was different, social, entertaining, and would provide a way to promote our partners in the community. This was no easy feat but thanks to our generous sponsors, local business partners, numerous volunteers, and fantastic attendees; the event was a huge success.
The doors opened at 6pm to a sold-out crowd of 200 attendees. The evening was hosted by local stand-up comedian Christopher Cyr (Impolite Comedy Company) and featured silent auctions, massages courtesy of Morganford Massage and Spa, Tarot Readings by Julie, and attendance prizes throughout the night donated by dozens of local businesses. Guests were treated to amazing food provided by The Vine on South Grand, A social Affair Catering and Vito’s Sicilian Pizzeria & Ristorante and an open bar provided by Civil Life Brewery and Dirt Cheap Liquor.
The highlight of the evening was a no-limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament. Deep Stacks Poker League not only hosted the tournament but provided an amazing “training” beforehand so that even first timers felt confidant playing. At 7pm 137 players battled for over 3 hours to claim a bounty of cash and prizes totaling over $2000. Alderman Stephen Conway (8th Ward) and Alderwoman Megan Green (15th ward) joined in the tournament, each with a “bounty” on their head. Two lucky players who knocked the Alderpeople out of the tournament walked away with $200 each for claiming the “bounty”. At the end of the night a Tower Grove South resident, who had taken the training class earlier in the evening since it was his first time playing Texas Hold’em, walked away with the title of All-In for Change 2015 Champion.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who came out to our inaugural fundraiser, you made it a success! Also, a thank you to our amazing sponsors, community partners, and the local business who donated to this event, without you this event wouldn't have been possible. We look forward to doing it all again in 2016!
