New Curb Bump Outs Enhance the Appeal of Intersections in Shaw

With extensive help from several volunteers from Shaw, Alderman Conway approved the plans to enhance the intersections at Thurman and Shenandoah and 39th and Shaw. The construction at Thurman and Shenandoah started today. The construction at 39th and Shaw will start shortly. The new curb cuts will help slow traffic while improving the corners visually. The new curb cuts will have planter boxes. The intersection at Thurman and Shenandoah has gone through major changes over the last 6 months. The Olive Branch Exchange (facebook Olive Branch Exchange) recently opened on the southwest corner. They specialize in pre-loved and vintage clothing. Artisans Salon, theartisanssalon.com/ recently opened on the northwest corner. Danielle BeckHam is a pro hair and makeup artist. In addition, photography studio, Pinxit Photography pinxitphoto.com/, recently moved into a space on the southeast corner. Pinxit's owner Raquita Henderson specializes in weddings and family portraiture. All three businesses are woman owned and each has brought new life to the corner, joining the neighborhood bar and grill, Thurman Grill.  Please make sure to support all the businesses in Shaw. The commercial activity plays an important part in making Shaw the "best place to live."
