TGNCDC Hosts Community Open House For Neighborhood Visioning Project

On Saturday, June 30,2014, Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (TGNCDC) held a community open house.  The open house was used to collect information for the TGNCDC neighborhood visioning project to determine the needs of the community from the community.  TGNCDC represents the Shaw, Southwest Garden and Tower Grove South neighborhoods.  The approximately 30 people who attended listened to comments from Alderwoman Florida, Alderman Conway and a presentation by Tim Breihan from H3 Studio. In addition, they were given the opportunity to provide comments on neighborhood issues and to draw on maps to indicate areas of focus. The presentation can be downloaded  here

Some of the topics were better connectivity between neighborhoods and Tower Grove Park, increased lighting, crime and safety initiatives, youth programs, addressing nuisance properties and vacant and abandoned buildings, and better parking options for business districts.   H3 Studio is working with TGNCDC to create a survey for people who were unable to attend.  We will distribute and post it our website.  Individual interviews with area stakeholders will also be completed.  There will be at least one additional community open house in the early fall and a stakeholder committee will be formed to help direct our strategy.
