Tower Grove CDC to Focus NOM Efforts in Tower Grove South in 2014

Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (TGNCDC) will focus CDBG funded Neighborhood Ownership Model (NOM) (Learn more at http://www.circuitattorney.org/NeighborhoodOwnershipModel.aspx) activities in the Tower Grove South neighborhood in 2014.    The 2nd district police department and Community Development Administration (CDA) recommended Tower Grove CDC create a specific NOM plan, and focused activities in one neighborhood.  This is related, in part, to the geographic size of our service area (3 sq. miles), dense population (25,000) and limited time frame to complete the program activities (12 months).  It is also a strategic decision to allow for our success in one neighborhood to lead to additional grant funding for a NOM program in Shaw and Southwest Garden in subsequent years.  After discussing it with leadership from SNIA (Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association) and Southwest Garden Neighborhood Associations, Tower Grove CDC selected Tower Grove South. Tower Grove CDC will  leave open the option of implementing specific parts of the Tower Grove South NOM plan in Shaw and SW Garden in 2014 based on need and resident leadership. The next NOM meeting will be held February 26th at 6:30pm at TGNCDC office at 4168 Juniata.  We will discuss crime and safety issues, present the safety assessment based on resident feed back and crime stats provided by the 2nd district police department.  In addition, we will start working on the NOM plan including 4 related activities to complete in 2014.

“The funding of this project is financed wholly through a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Community Development Administration under the provision of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (Pub L, 93-383 42 USC 5301 et seq.) and/or HOME Title II of the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990, as amended (Public Law 101-625)”
